Kids from Vankleek Hill got quite the experience on October 9, during the Vankleek Hill Fire Department open house event.

Held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m, the event was organized in order to highlight the importance of safety as well as to mark Fire Prevention Week.

Kids were invited to check out the many fire trucks assembled for the event and were fed barbecued hot dogs.

“It’s an annual event,” said Vankleek Hill fire chief Michel Martin. “It usually attracts 250 to 300 people. This year’s theme is Plan and Practice you Escape.”
