In a continued effort to make art more accessible throughout the region, the Conseil des arts Prescott Russell Arts Council (CAPRAC), in partnership with the Municipality of Casselman, is proud to announce a new exhibition at its Municipal Mini-Gallery.
Residents and visitors are invited to stop by the CAPRAC office, located at 750 Principale Street, Room A-8 in Casselman, to view a curated selection of artworks from the current CAPRAC Gallery collection.
The current works at the Casselman location are Dido & Friend by Monica Jean Smith, Wood Violets and Fiddleheads by Nancy Jean Overbury, Fanfreluche by Line Labrecque, Aprés la pluie by Carole Renaud, Légumes but Léola Meagher, and Faux bloc de courtepointe – Cerises by FgSmii. Their diverse artistic styles and mediums offer viewers a unique window into the creativity thriving in Casselman.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to bringing art into our communities, CAPRAC presents the ‘Municipal Mini-Galleries’, an initiative that showcases the work of local artists on the walls of public spaces in municipal buildings,” said Margo Malboeuf, Executive Director at CAPRAC. “This program involves inviting our municipal partners to host a rotating selection of artworks on the walls of their public spaces to demonstrate their support and highlight artists of our region.”
The mini gallery at the CAPRAC office is one of three locations, with additional exhibitions at The Nation Sports Complex and the Russell Township Town Hall. Exhibits are updated every three months. The current collection in Casselman will remain on display through the end of September.
“This creates a unique exposure opportunity for our artist members while enriching the everyday lives of residents through greater access to local art,” she adds. “This is also a great collaboration between our organization and the municipalities we serve.”
This initiative is part of CAPRAC’s ongoing commitment to celebrate and showcase local talent while integrating art into everyday public spaces.
