Hawkesbury OPP have arrested and charged a man with attempted murder.

Alexandre Piette-Racine, 25, of Champlain Township was arrested and charged with attempted murder following police investigation of an incident in Hawkesbury May 29.

Last Thursday at about 5:30 p.m. an OPP officer was hailed outside of a residence on Main Street East.

The officer was told of an assault in the Pioneer Park area in downtown Hawkesbury. The victim, a 39-year-old man, was found and police provided first aid to deal with a number of stab wounds until paramedics could arrive on the scene.

The man was taken to hospital for further treatment and later referred to the regional trauma centre for treatment of serious injuries.

Police located Piette-Racine, suspected of involvement in the incident, and arrested him without any incident. He remained in custody until his schedule bail hearing in L’Orignal on May 30.
