A Canadian company that specializes in hunting down grants offered its services to East Hawkesbury Township.
“Our real mission is to ensure you are accessing every dollar of government funding possible,” said Michele Trempe of GrantMatch, during a presentation to township council last month.
GrantMatch is a Canadian company with officies in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Halifax. It describes itself as “an industry leader in securing government funding for a wide variety of forward-thinking organizations.”
Trempe noted that her company has done some work for the Town of Hawkesbury with “very satisfactory” results.
She told council that GrantMatch does not try to replace or duplicate the work that municipal staff already do with preparing submissions for provincial and federal grant programs that they already know exist and have dealt with before. The company uses its resources to find possible grant money from other government sources that municipalities may not be aware exists.
“We leave no stone unturned,” she said, adding that the company works on a contingency fee, or “pay-as-you-go”, arrangement with its municipal clients.
“You only ever pay us on successful approvals,” she said. “You have no commitment to how often you use us.”
GrantMatch provides a customized program tailored to the needs and goals of each client. Trempe noted that the main municipal grant funding aid themes the company is working on now are affordable housing, environment, human resources, infrastructure, and culture. Trempe noted that the company’s grant-hunting efforts are only for projects that a client has approved.
Mayor Robert Kirby thanked Trempe for her company’s proposal and said council would consider it.
