Mystery, elegance and generosity will be the order of the day at the third edition of Danser pour la FK – Soirée Bal Masqué. This charity event, organized in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada, aims to raise funds for research and support for people with this genetic disease.
“The reason I chose a dance is, although I love to dance, I have to find excuses to go dancing. We don’t really have an excuse to do it when we’re older, so I thought it was a good excuse to have an adult party and a fun evening”, said Christiane Aupry, organizer of the event.
The initiative is particularly dear to the heart of Ms. Aupry, whose 12-year-old son lives with cystic fibrosis. Since 2018, she has been involved by giving testimonials in partnership with Cystic Fibrosis Canada and Healthpartners.
All proceeds from the evening will go to Fibrose Kystique Canada, an organization working to improve patients’ quality of life and fund medical research.
In 2023, Dancing for CF raised close to $1,200 thanks to the participation of some 80 people. The following year, over 150 people showed up, raising $5,000.
“Our ultimate goal in raising money is to find a cure for cystic fibrosis. It’s a disease that affects a lot of Canadian children, and the mortality rate is pretty high, and life expectancy, even though it’s high now, is still not 100% as we’d like it to be.”
The event will take place on April 12, from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., at the Centre communautaire Camille-Piché, located at 8 rue Blais in Embrun. The theme of the evening will be the masked ball, and formal wear will be required for all participants. Musical entertainment will be provided by DJ Martin Lalonde, who will keep participants dancing throughout the evening.
A silent auction will allow guests to bid on exceptional items donated by local businesses such as Shari Affleck Studio, Les Serres Robert Plante, Tiny Shiny Rock Shop, Pole Fitness Academy and many others.
A cash bar will be available on site, and the event will be reserved exclusively for adults.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online or at the door. Reservations can be made now by visiting danceforcf.ca.
“It’s really important to get involved, and then it’s fun to find the community spirit in that, to meet people who are facing similar things and to have the support of those people.”
