Four members of the City of Clarence-Rockland’s staff, along with a longtime volunteer, were recently honoured for their dedication to the community.

In a ceremony held Thursday, March 20, city employees Monique Ouellet, Christine Sarault, Stéphane Grignon and Anne Morris-Bouchard — along with Gilles Chartrand, the “everything man” at the Clarence-Rockland Museum — were each awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal.

The Coronation Medal program was created to mark the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to a province, territory, region or community in Canada, or who have achieved something outstanding abroad that brings credit to the country.

“We are fortunate to have such dedicated and outstanding staff and volunteers in our community,” said Clarence-Rockland Mayor Mario Zanth. “They go above and beyond for their community, and we are lucky to have them.”

Gilles Chartrand is the founder and volunteer curator of the Clarence-Rockland Museum. He devotes his time to preserving and showcasing local history, ensuring a legacy for future generations.

Anne Morris-Bouchard is a cornerstone of the city’s child care services. Her unwavering dedication has touched the lives of many families by providing children with a safe and nurturing environment.

Monique Ouellet, a municipal clerk, plays a key role in the governance and smooth operation of the city. Her influence extends beyond municipal borders, as she is also a pillar of the Prescott-Russell clerks’ network.

Christine Sarault is the driving force behind the city’s cultural and event programming. Thanks to her efforts, Clarence-Rockland enjoys a wide variety of festivals, performances and events that bring the community together.

Stéphane Grignon is recognized for his exceptional commitment to customer service. Through his professionalism and people-first approach, he contributes daily to improving the experience of residents.

“I’m on cloud nine,” said Sarault in an interview with The Vision the day after the ceremony. “When I got the news, I just started crying.”

Sarault, who has been with the city for 38 years, said she will wear her medal proudly.

“The people I’ve worked with are just great,” she added. “I’ve worked hard, and I just want to do what I can for the people of this community.”
