A 50-year-old Rockland man is facing multiple drug and weapon charges after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant at a residence on Laurier Street as part of a drug trafficking investigation.
The warrant was carried out on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, by the OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit, with assistance from the Russell County detachment. Officers seized suspected cocaine and methamphetamine tablets, along with items commonly associated with drug trafficking. A conducted energy weapon (stun gun) and a machete were also confiscated. One person was arrested at the scene.
Luc Decarie, 50, of Rockland, has been charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of the proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, two counts of operating a vehicle while prohibited under the Criminal Code, possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance.
Following a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal, Decarie was released from custody. He is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 12, 2025.
