Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested one person after officers responded to a firearms call on Brazeau Street in Clarence Creek in the morning hours of Monday, Sept. 9

OPP vehicles flooded the area, blocking access to the rural residential road as police attended a house some 650 metres south of Baseline Road. Just an hour or so later, several police cars remained on site as officers were seen coming in and out of the house and attached garage. Two paramedic vehicles were positioned about one kilometre away throughout the operation.

In a release, OPP said it received a call just after 7 a.m. involving a firearm.

Upon arriving at the scene, provincial police officers were able to make contact with the person of interest and an arrest was made without further incident. Due to the nature of the investigation, emergency crews are at the scene. The OPP Russell County Crime Unit is assisting with the investigation, and said there is no threat to public safety.

As of press time, no other details have been released.

OPP said the investigation is ongoing, and the suspect appeared at the Ontario Court in L’Orignal earlier on Sept. 10.
