Casselman are not letting anything stop them this month. Having won the last nine of 10 games since the beginning of November, the Vikings are looking forward to closing out 2023 without leaving any points on the table.
The Vikings are continuing the winning streak they started back in November with their first couple games this month. Their game on Sunday, December 3, was postponed due to inclement weather, but their game the following Thursday, December 7, was a total knockout.
Going up against the Winchester Hawks, the Vikings immediately racked up a four-goal lead in the first period, with the first goal happening less than a minute after the game started.
Though the Hawks attempted to mount a comeback with a second period goal, the Vikings rallied and widened the gap even more. The Hawks gave one last push for a late-game return in the third, but the Vikings could not be overcome.
The final score was 8-2, thanks to Vikings goalscorers Dominic Martin, William Gosselin, Alexis Lafrance, Mathieu Cloutier, and Vincent Bastien, assisted by Bradley Leblanc, Marc-Olivier McCarthy, Yan Bessette, Noah Bath, Tristan Simoneau, Nicolas Elie, and Sébastien Ouimet.
The next game on Friday, December 8, was a furious battle between the Vikings and the Perth Blue Wings. The Vikings managed a single goal near the end of the first period, but it was hard-fought and neither team gave any more ground for most of the game.
Finally, near the end of the third period, the exhausted Vikings managed two more goals to clinch the win. The final score was 3-0.
The Vikings’ goals were scored by Owen Mann, Bessette, and Bath, assisted by Skyler Beks, Lafrance, Elie, and Cloutier. Their next game is on December 12 at the Earl Armstrong Arena against the Ottawa Jr Canadians.
On Tuesday night, December 12, the Vikings faced off against the Junior Canadians in Ottawa, the results of which was not available before the publishing of this edition of the Reflet. The Alexandria Glens are next on the schedule for the Vikings on Thursday, December 14, followed by the Char-Lan Rebels and Ottawa West Golden Knights over the weekend.
