During its April 13 committee of the whole session Champlain Township council approved a proposal for opening the municipal landfill on the April 15 and April 22 weekends to residents who have yard debris resulting from the April 5 ice storm.
« This means branches and such only, » said Mayor Normand Riopel.
The municipal landfill will be open April 15 and 16 and also April 22 and 23, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for residents bringing in branches and similar yard debris for deposit.
Council also approved a recommendation to suspend the open air burning permit fees until the end of April, to help residents doing yard clean-up after the storm. Residents must still check with either the municipal office or their local fire station on the guidelines for doing open air burning as part of their yard clean-up work.
