Five drivers charged with drunk driving in one week

The Russell Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged five drivers with impaired driving between June 27 and July 3. The charges, which came about during over 530 calls for service in that one week alone, are as follows.

Samuel Larocque, 18, from Hawkesbury was stopped on County Road 17 in Clarence-Rockland for stunt driving. A routine breathalyser test revealed he had a blood alcohol concentration of over 80, leading to his detainment. He was charged with stunt driving and driving while intoxicated.

Christopher Lenteigne, 49, from Russell was stopped on Notre-Dame Street in Embrun shortly before 4:15 p.m. for a traffic-related offence. A breathalyser test result of over 80, resulted in his arrest. He was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Francis Martel, 29, from St-Albert was stopped on St-Albert Road in Casselman shortly before 8:45 p.m. after OPP officers received a traffic complaint. A breathalyser test of over 80, resulted in a charge of driving while intoxicated.

Patrick Patenaude, 43, from Limoges was stopped on Route 300 in Russell Township shortly before 10:45 p.m. A breathalyser test resulted in a reading of over 80. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.

Robert Levesque, 64, from Clarence-Creek was stopped on County Road 17 in Clarence-Rockland for a traffic-related offence. A breathalyser result of over 80 prompted further investigation. Police found other illicit substances, an invalid driver’s licence, and a broken taillight. Levesque was charged with possession of more than 30 grams of dried cannabis in public, driving while intoxicated, driving with a broken taillight, and driving without a licence.

All of the above individuals received a 90-day driver’s licence suspensions and had their vehicles impounded for seven days. They’re scheduled to appear in court in L’Orignal at a later date.
