The provincial election is less than a month away and voters in Glengarry-Prescott-Russell will have several names to choose from on their ballots.

May 12 is when Election Ontario releases its final lists of confirmed candidates for the June 2 provincial election in every riding in Ontario. As of May 7 the GPR list from Election Ontario had five names of candidates who had filed their nomination papers.

On the official list so far are: Stéphane Aubry for the Ontario Party, Victor Brassard for the New Blue Party, Thaila Riden of the Green Party, Stéphane Sarrazin for the Progressive Conservatives, and incumbent MPP Amanda Simard for the Liberals.

The GPR NDP Riding Association has confirmed during a phone call that Alicia Eglin is its candidate for the June election. There is a report Russell Township resident Jean-Serge Brission will represent the Libertarian Party on the GPR ballot.

Meanwhile the non-profit group, Eco East, is organizing a virtual all-candidates meeting for May 18, 7 p.m., via a Zoom online meeting platform.
