Russell detective receives OPP commendation

Detective Sergeant Jocelyn Sauvé was honoured by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on December 1, when Inspector Chris McGillis presented him with a Commissioner’s Commendation for creating a local abuse program in Prescott-Russell.

Sauvé identified gaps in the treatment and collection of forensic evidence for victims of sexual and domestic violence, and his program will help minimize re-victimization and ensure local access to support services. He advocated for this program in collaboration with the Hawkesbury General Hospital, and the program successfully launched in February 2019.

The program has already had a significant and positive effect on the community, and the OPP would like to extend their congratulations and appreciation for this essential program for victims of violence.
