Several schools in the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) have seen confirmed COVID-19 cases since school started September 7. Viscount Alexander Public School in Cornwall has been closed until September 20 by order of the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU), and the schools and health units are taking all necessary steps to limit the chance of further exposure.
Pleasant Corners Public School and Vankleek Collegiate Institute in Vankleek Hill remain open, as do St. Lawrence Secondary in Cornwall and South Edwardsburg Public in Johnstown. The specifics of the COVID cases were not released to the public or the media, but assessments were done to pinpoint those who were at high risk of exposure. The EOHU and the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark Health Unit are communicating with these individuals about next steps.
