The doors of the Alfred-Plantagenet Township municipal office and community centres will reopen to the public in early September.

Council approved a recommendation from administration during its August 17 session to allow public access again in September to the municipal office in Plantagenet for residents who want to pay their taxes or do other business with the township.

The administration report noted “several calls” from residents over the past few weeks about when municipal buildings like the township office and local community centres would be open to the public again. After consultation with directors for various municipal departments that operate out of the office and also with the Eastern Ontario Health Unit, administration recommends the municipal office in Plantagenet reopen to general public access September 7, with normal business hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Community centres in the villages of Wendover, Plantagenet, Alfred, Lefaivre, Curran, and Treadwell would also reopen for public use September 7 “subject to public health measures, advice and restrictions”.

Groups that wish to use the community centres for their activities must contact the municipal office for advice on public health protocols to follow.
