Muskoka Cabinet Company Inc. will get $625,000 through Federal Development Ontario (FedDev Ontario) to assist with upgrades to some of its equipment and continue to be competitive in the post-pandemic economy. Marie-France Lalonde, parliamentary secretary for Mélanie Joly, minister of economic development and official languages, and Glengarry-Prescott-Russell MP Francis Drouin announced the funding June 10.
“Investments like the one we are making in Muskoka Cabinet Company,” stated Lalonde, “allowing it to adopt first-in-Canada technology, give business the support they need to scale up and create new, local jobs.”
“Today’s investment is great news for the Alfred and Plantagenet community,” stated Drouin. “We proudly support Muskoka Cabinet Company Inc., as it builds on its innovative model, adopts new production capabilities, stays competitive, and creates seven new jobs.”
The company has already gained a reputation in the business sector for its use of robotics and computer software as part of its assembly process for high-end cabinetry for home builders and contractors. The FedDev investment will allow the company to make state-of-the-art upgrades to its cabinet panel finishing line. The upgrades mean a 50-per-cent overall increase in productivity and help the company meet growing demand for its products.
