Improvement plan for Rodolphe Latreille Park

Recreation Coordinator Carole Ann Scott presented The Nation council with a proposal during its March 8 session for improvements to Rodolphe Latreille Park. Council approved her recommendation to apply for a federal Healthy Communities Initiative grant worth $195,246 to help pay for the improvements.

Scott proposed paving the remaining gravel portion of the park’s walking trail to make it more accessible for people with mobility issues. She also wants to install solar lights alongside the trail to make it more appealing for evening walks and also help improve its value as a pedestrian traffic connection to the South Indian residential subdivision.

Other improvements to the park involve repairs to the gazebo, including replacing rotting support posts and replacing the structure’s roof. The repairs will provide more picnic space and shade for park users.
