Arson charge over snack bar fire

Police have charged a Quebec man with arson over a fire that destroyed a Hawkesbury business last spring.

A fire broke out at Leduc Snack Bar on Main Street East on the evening of May 26 last year. There were no injuries, but the building was heavily damaged. 

At the time, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Hawkesbury detachment asked for information about the fire. The investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at a property in Saint-Hippolyte, north of Montreal, earlier this month.

Yves Dicaire, 54 of Saint-Hippolyte was arrested and charged with arson – damage to property and break, enter a place – commit indictable offence. He was released from custody and will face the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on March 10.
