The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) started an investigation in June in response to a complaint about threatening messages. Officers began investigating at an East Hawkesbury campground on County Road 19.
According to an OPP statement, officers from the Hawkesbury crime unit determined “an individual had been developing a plan to kill individuals”. They arrested a 56-year-old East Hawkesbury man on Tuesday, who was charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and one count each of counselling an Indictable offence which is not committed and criminal harassment-threatening conduct.
The man was remanded in custody and scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Tuesday.
