The Casselman testing centre for COVID-19 has reached its limit Wednesday for the number of clients it can handle for testing.

The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) posted notices on its website and Facebook page September 16 that the Casselman testing centre “has now reached the maximum number of clients that can tested today.”

The assessment centre, which operates on a drive-through drop-in basis, is not taking any more clients for the rest of the day but will be open again for new assessment cases tomorrow, September 17.

Residents of Casselman, The Nation Municipality, Russell Township, and other adjacent areas who want to get tested for COVID-19 today can go to the other EOHU testing centres in Winchester, Hawkesbury, Alexandria or Cornwall, which operate on a drop-in basis and do not require appointments.

Since the pandemic began, the EOHU has kept a running record of the total number of cases that each of its six main assessment centres have handled. For several weeks now Casselman has always had the highest total number of cases, which was 12,657 as of September 14.

The Cornwall and Winchester centres rank second and third at 9,824 and 7,837 respectively. After them are Hawkesbury at 6,327, Rockland with 4,405, and Alexandria at 842. Alexandria is the most recent assessment centre to have opened in the EOHU region.

These numbers represent all the tests done at each centre since the day they opened.
