Police have arrested four people as part of an investigation of an assault incident in the Village of Alfred.

Officers from the Hawkesbury OPP detachment were called July 5 evening to a home in Alfred where they found an injured 28-year-old man outside of the residence. He was sent to hospital for treatment of serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Police determined that four other people were at the victim’s home that night. On July 6, using search warrants, police from Hawkesbury and the Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry OPP Crime Unit and the Cornwall Police Service arrested four people in Cornwall.

Shane Riopelle, 38, and Luc Cayen, 51, both of Cornwall, are charged with aggravated assault and will remain in custody until their scheduled court date.

Taylor Barkhouse, 27, and Kimberley Friend, 49, both of Cornwall, are also charged with aggravated assault but were released on their own recognizance on condition they appear in provincial court in L’Orignal August 7.
